UPDATED TEST PRINTS!!!
05/19/10

Due to an inventory glitch, many test prints that are actually in stock were marked sold out. If you've been tempted by a test print that you were previously told was sold out--it may be worth it to take another gander at our wares...wait that sounds dirty. In short, there's some new test prints and some older ones that were originally marked as sold out--so get your purse.

AA 10TH ANNIVERSARY ONLINE AUCTION IS LIVE!
03/27/09

Hello all you bid wetters, the Aesthetic Apparatus 10th Anniversary Auction is live and online and just waiting for your perusal. The auction page is http://hautecrap.com .
(You didn't expect the domain name to be something tasteful did you?)

This auction will be running online all day, Saturday March 28th. If you are one of the beautiful people and live in the twin cities you can come by the studio and take a look at all the posters being auctioned in person, bid and take in all the fantastic other crap we'll have around for our sale and party.

For the most part everything is self-explanatory as far as the auction works but here’s some specific information you should know:

-ALL AUCTION END TIMES ARE PACIFIC TIME ZONE! (Sorry, we never figured out how to fix this)
-The first auction (Hold Steady) ends at 7PM Pacific (9 Central.) Each following auction ends every 5 minutes after that with last auction (Mike Watt) ending at 8:55PM Pacific (10:55PM central.)
-To bid, click the link below each poster. It will bring up a pop-up window in which you can enter your personal information and your bid.
-Bidding works similar to eBay. If bidding starts at $40 and you bid $100 your bid will be displayed as $50 and will continuously outbid proceeding bidders until someone bids over your $100.
-You will only receive email notification if you are outbid. Initial bids will not receive an initial email and winning auctions will be contacted by us directly.
-We prefer winning auctions be paid via PayPal although other payment methods can be arranged if need be.
-Bidding is kind of honor policy so please do not abuse.

Have fun!

AA 10TH ANNIVERSARY
02/10/09

We don't need to make a big deal out of it but we thought you might like to know that today, February 10, 2009, is the 10th anniversary of Aesthetic Apparatus.
There's actually no exact day that we started this thing but this is the date on the first poster we ever made ten years ago so we figured that was authorization enough. We're planning some kind of, uh, 'party' for late March so keep a look out for that. Congratulatory gold bars and six-packs can be sent to our Snelling address.

STUDIO WARMING! PLEASE COME!
11/07/08

Apologies to you all for the informal, rambling message here but we really need to tell you something very important and time is of the essence (especially since it's Friday at 4:36PM.) As some of you may or may not know, we moved the Aesthetic Apparatus corporate headquarters over the summer and although the space is still not anywhere near presentable we have to as least christen this new space with a party or we never will. So we are going to have a studio warming party next weekend, Saturday November 15th. Honestly, you're probably just as excited to hear about this as we are as we've just now decided what time we're going to have it at. Oh, you want to know? How about you show up around 6:00PM. How does that sound?

We will have:
pony rides, go kart racing, power-wash-the-hobo prize games, zombie strippers, a Scientologist cake walk, a finger puppet show, free invisible ipods, free phantom TVs, free Nelson Mandela (dolls), fecal face painting, stickers, caricature artists (non union), survival craft projects, magnetic poetry slams, French Karaoke, Twizzler fights, a screening of Apocalips Now & Laters II, Broken Orca rides, free handshakes (vanilla only), tour of Santa's Village and we've also invited all your parents to come too so you can do all this AND catch up with mom and dad, because we know you never call them enough. OH, THERE WILL BE FOOD AND DRINKS AND THINGS OF THAT NATURE.

FEEL FREE TO BLOG ABOUT THIS! OR INFORM PEOPLE VIA TELEPHONE! OR MOBILE PAGER! OR MORSE CODE! TELL THE WORLD WHAT IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN! DON'T LET IT PASS THEM BY!

The new studio is at 2215 Snelling Avenue in Minneapolis. For you twin citizens do please note, this is NOT Snelling Ave in St. Paul. This is the Snelling Avenue in Minneapolis behind Coastal Seafood in Seward. Oh, you didn't know there was a Snelling Avenue in Seward? Neither did we until we moved here! Standing in front of our building you will feel like you're in the middle of nowhere but really you can come by car (there's actually parking here) you can take the light rail (we're two blocks from the Franklin Ave station), you can come by bicycle (we're two blocks from the greenway), you could even stumble over here from Tracy's Saloon over on Franklin Ave (we're two blocks from them too.) The possibilities are endless. Just make sure you're here.

WHAT: Aesthetic Apparatus Studio Warming Extravaganza
WHEN: Saturday, November 15, 2008 - 6PM
WHERE: 2215 Snelling Ave, Minneapolis MN. 55404
WTF: FOOD, DRINKS, AESTHETIC APPARATUS PEOPLES

Thanks so much. We love you.

WE NEED A HOME
05/16/08

As the building that our studio is in has been sold--we will be vacating our downtown Minneapolis location in mid July. With that said--if anybody in the area knows of a studio space available, we could really use some leads. Who knows, maybe you've always wanted a bunch of drunken, screenprinting, designers in your basement or garage.

SHIPPING: THE NEW DEAL
05/02/08

Maybe not as prolific as FDR's New Deal, but none the less--just wanted to let you know that we are now employing new shipping and handling rates. For years we've had a blanket shipping price which has forced us to make some sacrifices on multiple item orders--so you may see an extra little bite in your shopping cart, but it's all in an effort to get you the best shipping experience possible. We are now able to offer ALL of our customers faster delivery times and package tracking when necessary. Thank you for all of your years of patronage--here's to many more.

AA KINDLING & LITTER-BOX-LINER SALE
02/06/08

The now almost famous Aesthetic Apparatus Kindling & Litter-box-liner Sale will offer the public a rare chance to buy SLIGHTLY damaged or misprinted posters (most people cannot tell what is wrong with them) for the AMAZINGLY STUPID low price of FIVE AMERICAN DOLLARS. These prints sell on the Aesthetic Apparatus website for $20. So, it is indeed a wonderful value and also gives music fans another chance to buy the poster they drunkenly forgot to pick up at the show and may now be sold out. And, of course, non crappy, full price prints will also be available along with art prints, t-shirts and random trinkets produced by Aesthetic Apparatus. Attendees on hand may also very likely witness the men of Aesthetic Apparatus be both physically and verbally abused by Grumpy?s owner, Tom Hazelmyer. What a treat!

Have you checked out the latest Communication Arts Design Annual yet? If you did you might have seen some of our work. That's right, once again we have found our way into the hallowed design annual's 48th rendition. Thanks... We are pretty stoked about the whole thing too. We're no strangers to the pages of Comm Arts but it still warms our hearts to know that we are still considered relevant by at least a small committee of people. You can check out our award history in all its shiny glory in our press section. But we're not bragging or anything--you don't have to check it out. Just thought maybe you'd want to know that's all.

SOME POOPIE PAST PROJECTS
11/15/07

Out there on the internet somewhere is a livejournal blog about the most disgusting roommate on the entire planet. We don't suggest you go and search it out because just the photos alone will make you physically ill for hours, but let's just say there is some "dirty laundry" in there. On a (hopefully) not nearly as disgusting and (also hopefully) much more interesting note, we've been invited by the University of Minnesota to air our own soiled stories tonight at their ongoing lecture series Dirty Laundry put on by the Design Institute Student Board. We'll be telling stories of our worst and best projects ever. And it's free, so c'mon down and feel the stink!
